Joshua Tree, CA.
In the middle of March, I took a trip down to Joshua Tree, CA! I went with a great group of people and we had an absolutely lovely time. We booked an airbnb in the middle of the desert and it was hot, hot, hot. We spent the first night making dinner, playing games and watched “The Blair Witch Project” which gave everyone nightmares. The next morning we suited up with sunscreen and our hiking boots to get ready for the hike of a lifetime. We headed over to the trail and I could just tell it was going to be stunning, but we were going to have to work for it. We looked at the sign of where the path led and it said that it was a four mile hike. Instantly we were all second guessing ourselves, but then we saw that it led to an oasis out in the mountains, and our attitudes changed drastically. I had never seen an oasis in person before, I barely knew what it even was. The hike was so beautiful and a bit tiring, but we pushed through.
When we got to the oasis my mind was blown. I never knew something like that could happen in nature. It felt so surreal. A grouping of palm tree-like trees huddled in a circle with a creek running through. We hung out there for over an hour and just took in the beauty of it. I had never felt such peace and tranquility like that ever before. When we wrapped up and headed back down the mountain we all were so happy and relaxed. It was a magical feeling. We ended the day by going to a restaurant out in the middle of nowhere called RedDog. It was a ranch with a bar and an outdoor area for eating, with almost 200 people there. For being in such an isolated area, people sure knew about it, and for good reason because the food was immaculate. They specialized in tacos and let me just say that I will never have a taco that made my mouth water like that again! We all sat, ate and drank together as the sun went down and the horses rode through. This was a trip that gave me a new perspective on the world and how beautiful it is. I will be going back very soon.
